OUR HISTORY

Hammocks Veterinary Hospital opened its doors in April of 1989 the answer to the dream of Dr. Katherine Dodds and her husband Dr. Stephen M. Sheldon.  The modern facility was built with the idea of comprehensive medical and surgical care of animal patients in mind.  Dr. Dodds worked alone initially however the practice became so busy so quickly that Dr. Sheldon joined her a mere 1 year later.  Ms. Amy Deming managed the practice since June of 1992 and left to pursue other opportunities in June 2000.  Ms. Tina Aybar was their first Technician.  In 1997, Dr. Jennifer S. Hew joined the staff as a relief veterinarian and in 1999 became an Associate. Ms. Letty Nelsen joined the Team in September of 2000 as Practice Manager and finally, in July of 2002, Dr. Hew became the sole owner of Hammocks Veterinary Hospital.  In Dr. Hew’s absence our hospital is exceptionally represented by the Relief Veterinary Services of Dr. Cyrena Rose. Both doctors have graced our hospital and assisted our patients with a loving bedside manner and medical expertise.

The hospital contains a full laboratory and pharmacy as well as X-ray and surgical areas.  Most diagnostic and treatment procedures can be handled within the hospital. The doctors at Hammocks Veterinary Hospital are available by emergency voice mail service after hours.

As a member of the American Animal Hospital Association, Hammocks Veterinary Hospital, Inc. adheres to their rigid requirements for quality medical care as well as participates in comprehensive inspections.  AAHA has contributed greatly to the care of patients and encourages continuing improvement in maintaining the highest standards in the profession through meetings and seminars with that goal in mind.  As an AAHA (American Animal Hospital Association) accredited hospital, our goal is to always provide the finest in veterinary care to pets that are brought to our facility and to be kind and considerate to their owners.

THE CLIENT

  • The Client is the most important person in our business.

  • He is not dependent on us – We depend on him.

  • He is not an interpretation in our work – He is the very purpose of it.

  • He does us a favor when he calls – We are not doing him a favor when we serve him

  • He is not a cold statistic, but a real flesh and blood human, just like you and me.

  • He is a vital part of our business – Not an outsider.

  • He is not a name, a fact, or a number on a ledger.

  • He is not a person to argue or match wits with.

  • He is a person who brings to us his needs and wants. Our job is to fulfill them.

  • He is the very lifeblood of our community.

  • He is the one who buys our services – Pays our salaries.

  • He deserves the most courteous and attentive treatment we can give him.
