We are extremely proud of our staff. They work diligently to meet and exceed your expectations and provide the best care for your pets. The commitment is evident every Tuesday morning to focus on further training and educating ourselves. Hammocks Veterinary Hospital is a Level 4 American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) Hospital, the highest level awarded by AAHA, only achieved by about 3% of animal hospitals nationwide. AAHA rigorously evaluates and inspects their member hospitals to assure standards are adhered to.

Kelly Windsor
Senior Technician

Kelly WindsorKelly gets the award for the longest tenure at HVH. She joined the staff in February of 2000 and has excelled as a technician and co-manager for the kennel/tech hospital staff. Her specialty lies in pet dentistry. She graduated Sun Valley High School in Aston, PA and Harcum College also in PA and has been a veterinary technician since 1992. Kelly is married to a Miami-Dade Fire Fighter and has two daughters.

In her spare time she enjoys baking and creative cake decorating and family vacations. She has three dogs; Ruby, a Great Dane and Cookie and Gigi sibling French Bull-dogs. Kelly also collects cats she adopts from HVH with the last count at four.

Kelly Whitt
Senior Technician

Kelly WhittKelly graduated Palmetto Senior High in 1992. She attended Miami-Dade College’s Veterinary Technology Program and has been in the field for the last twelve years. Kelly joined the HVH team two years ago and co-manages the hospital kennel/tech team. Her extensive knowledge and background make her the ideal candidate to train all new-hires and guide them to grow in their positions.

Kelly is a newly married and has a two-month old baby girl, a nine-year old daughter and a seven year old son. Her family brood also includes six dogs, Itty-Bitty, Annie, Punkin, Missy, Benji and Tyeboy and a pot-bellied pig named Oinker.

Michelle Poole
Client Relations Specialist

Michelle PooleMichelle has been with HVH for eight years on and off. She is a graduate of American Senior High School in 1997 and continues her education at Miami-Dade College. She is a valued team member at HVH being a jack of all trades. She is able to work all areas of the hospital and is always willing to lend a hand. Michelle also holds the record for the most pets; between her parent’s home and her own there are five German Shepherds (Apache, Lee, Radga, Morgan, & Phantom), a Labrador Retriever mix (Maxine), a Wire-Haired Terrier (Lucy), a Yorkshire/Shih Tzu (Panda) mix and 3 cats (Hunter, CC and Oreo).Michelle is currently waiting for acceptance into the Miami-Dade Police Academy and aspires to be a part of their K-9 unit. She has been married to a Miami-Dade Fire Fighter since July of 2005.

Alex Segovia
Senior Client Relations Specialist

Alex SegoviaAlex graduated Miami Sunset High School in 1997 and is currently attending Miami-Dade College to complete his B.S. degree in Accounting. Though Alex is employed as a full-time Human Resources Director for Lowe’s Home Centers in Miami Lakes, he still finds time to devote to his HVH family. His tenure of seven years is one of the longest for an HVH team member.

Alex has been married since November of 2002 and has one son, Valentino who is two years old. In his free time Alex enjoys spending time with his family, traveling and continuing to upgrade their home.

Yamile Monroy
Technician

Yamile MonroyYamile is a graduate of the Higher Institute of Agricultural Science in Havana, Cuba. In 1992 she attained her degree in Veterinary Medicine and practiced on large animals in an agricultural setting specializing in toxicology, pharmacology and clinical diagnosis. Yamile, her husband and two boys came to the United States just 2 years ago and she has been working with HVH ever since. She is also a member of the Cuban Veterinary Medical Association in Exile.

Yamile enjoys swimming, reading & watching movies. She is currently studying to take her veterinary medicine boards in the U.S. and begin her own small animal veterinary practice. She has three dogs named Juanita. Tita and Suchel and one cat named “Beethoven”.

Stephanie Cuervo
Client Relations Specialist

Stephanie CuervoStephanie graduated Miami Sunset High School in 2003. She attends Miami-Dade College pursuing certification as a Veterinary Technician. Her client service experience makes her a valuable receptionist at HVH where she has worked since October of 2007. Her hobbies include pet care and photography, which is sure to come in handy when she gives birth to her first son in mid-September.

She owns “Kaos” a two year-old brindle Boxer mix and a domestic short-hair female cat named “Resees”. Though Stephanie is currently a part of the reception team, her experience is in Kennel/Veterinary assistance where she may choose to remain when she returns from maternity leave in the Fall.

Amy Vargas
Client Relations Specialist

Amy VargasAmy joined the HVH in March of 2008. In her short tenure she has proven to be an important part of the team as both a Receptionist and a Veterinary Assistant/Tech.

She graduated Cypress Creek High School in 2005 and currently attends Miami-Dade College with a Biology major, hoping to attend vet school in the future. Amy has two dogs; Halo and Bullet, and 2 cats; Oliver and Sasha.

Amy is married and enjoys racing, fishing, roller skating and music. She also is quite the sports enthusiast having played varsity softball for seven years, holding both positions of pitcher and short-stop.

Stephanie Smith
Client Relations Specialist

Stephanie Stephanie grew up constantly surrounded by pets. She was born and raised in Miami and from the time she was a baby to college graduate, pets were a big part of her life.

To this day, Stephanie states that her love of animals have made her who she is today. Stephanie is a graduate of University of Florida in Gainesville with a degree in English and Spanish.

Hammocks Veterinary Hospital is very proud to be Stephanie's family veterinarian for the last fifteen (15) years. Today, we are pleased to have her as a valued member of our staff.

Miguel Valera
Groomer

Miguel ValeraMiguel graduated from the Central University in Venezuela in 1991 with a degree in Agricultural Engineering. Since then he has had extensive experience with all types of livestock and small animals both in his native Venezuela and in the United States. 

Since 2001 Miguel has worked as a Veterinary Technician in the Miami area.

In 2002 he started his part-time grooming business which he has concentrated on more recently.  Miguel joined Hammocks in 2005. His gentle but firm and reassuring way with the animals has earned him the name the "Dog Whisperer"
